Country Lover Dancers
at our
Tuesday Night Dance Lessons

Our dances are open to the public and you don't even need to bring a partner. We welcome people of all ages. So come on out & join in the fun!

Country Lovers Western Dance Club is a non-profit organization founded in 1990 by a small group of people who loved to dance. Our membership has grown and shrunk over the years (relative to the popularity of country music). However, our enthusiasm has never waned. Our vision and goal is to promote country music and dancing in Ventura County for people of all ages.

We meet every Tuesday night from 6:30 to 9PM at the Moose Lodge in Ventura where we offer line & couples dance lessons. Monthly we sponsor a dance at the House of Dance in Ventura and annually we participate in the Fair Parade and St. Patrick's Day Parade. We also perform for various senior parks, local schools and at various other city & county events.

Every year we help with collecting Toys for Tots and have raised and donated money for charitable organizations like the National Disaster Search Dog Foundation, the Red Cross, Relay for Life, the Children's Auxiliary Foundation, Project Understanding and Food Share. We are proud to say that we also donated money to help purchase American flags for the City of Ventura. Yep, and we still have time to dance!

So what are you doing on Tuesday night? Come on out, put your boots on and DANCE!!

Linedancing Etiquette

  • Never walk though a line of dancers to cross the floor - always walk round the floor or wait..
  • Remember everyone was once a beginner; if you can dance do try to be helpful to newcomers..
  • Don't be tempted to stop dancing to teach, especially if there is no room. Try to teach off the floor if you can't find space..
  • When starting off the dance, go to the front so that others can fall in behind you..
  • Never stay on the floor to talk - if the music has started go off the dance floor to chat..
  • When dancing near beginners - be mindful and courteous and don't show off..
  • Don't start a different dance, unless there is plenty of room and you sense it is acceptable..
  • Remember the floor is for everyone. Try to leave the outside lane clear for couple dancers..
  • If possible start another line rather than join one that will block the outside lanes..
  • Those dancing around the outside lane have the right of way. Don't block their progress..
  • When dancing around the floor, the line of dance 'LOD' is anti-clockwise. Never against the LOD..
  • If the floor is crowded, take small steps; enjoy the company, but watch for collisions..
  • If you should bump into someone, it is customary to apologize whether it is your fault or not..
  • Never come onto the dance floor carrying drink, glasses, cans or lighted cigarettes..
  • Should you accidentally knock over someone's drink replace it immediately..
  • And finally, keep your head up, keep smiling and enjoy yourselves.
